How we Work
You're getting married! After the initial excitement you are probably now deep in planning mode and we are here to help. Whether you know exactly what you want or you have no idea we can help.
Venue, Date, Dresses!
Most people start with the venue of their dreams, then choose a suitable date and then refine the details from there. Flowers tend to be one of the later items confirmed as we perform the magic finishing touches to your look. Though we are happy to provide guidance along the way as to palette and style suggestions we strongly suggest selecting your dresses before you meet us for a consultation. The reason being that the bridal and bridesmaids dresses are the biggest influence on floral colours and style.
You've found your dresses and you may or may not have an idea of what you want flower-wise. We suggest a brief look around be it on our website, our colour boards on pinterest or mags and blogs. We realise it can be overwhelming so don't getting bogged down in the options, just a quick squiz at whats out there and what you like. If you are totally in the dark and need advice that is fine too, we love a blank slate just as much!
It is easiest if we can meet in person, though we can organise over email and phone if you are abroad. Our consultations can be arranged at the soonest convenience. These are done at the home studio in Browns Bay for Auckland, or Ngaio for Wellington, and are typically 30 minutes to 1 hour long. We offer appointments 7 days a week over autumn/winter and usually Mon-Thurs over Summer, 11am-7pm. These times are flexible however, and we try to accomodate you where possible.
At our meeting we will sit down and discuss your thoughts on your wedding style so far. If you have concrete ideas that is great, and if you have no idea that is not a problem! We will browse through images and discuss the tailoring of designs to suit your tastes, such as, stem length, binding fabric, foliage detailing etc. We like to make your flowers uniquely you!
We recommend bringing along any fabric samples, colour swatches or pictures to help us provide you with accurate quotes and fitting concept suggestions to accentuate your chosen themes and colour schemes.
After our meeting we will proceed in drawing you up a detailed quote along with a concept board that reflects the look we would be creating for you. It is not always possible to show you the exact design, as perhaps we are creating something very special for you, but we try to show you as much as possible what the final look would be.
The quote can take 5-14days to draw up, depending on how busy we are at the time.
Once recieved, take some time to read through the quote and think about if it suits your vision. Make notes and let us know if you would like any changes or if you would like to reduce costs or tailor any designs to suit you and your budget. We are great at offering cost-effective options.
We will send you revised quotes till you are happy to proceed in booking in and at that point an invoice.
Its a match!
If you are happy with our quote and concept for you and would like to book with us we take a 20% deposit/booking fee to hold your date for you.
We take a limited number of bookings each week and sometimes we can have 6 or 7 enquiries for the same date so it vital to book in earlier rather than later.
In the meantime
You're booked in and now we wait excitedly! We try to keep quote revisions limited over your planning period to stop things getting too confusing, but we love it when you stay in touch and are happy to provide any advice or further information on request.
We always contact you around 6 weeks before your wedding date to check in and confirm your requirements. In fact we like to have as much as possible finalised at this time so we can go ahead and order your flowers with the growers.
We are a small industry here in NZ and there are a lot of boutique growers who only produce a small yield of each variety per year so we want to give them as much notice as possible that we want their product. The more notice the better!
Final payment is typically paid around 2 weeks before your wedding although this is flexible and we are happy to change the due date on request.
We aim to finalise addresses, times and contact numbers for the day at least a 1-2 weeks before.
The big day has arrived
Behind the scenes we are busily prepping your flowers and making sure they are top quality and as close the the original vision as possible.
Hopefully you will be have your feet up with a glass of champers or a cup of tea and enjoy the morning of your big day with your loved ones.
You will see us as planned to deliver your flowers to you, but mostly we will be running like a well oiled machine delivering and setting up your florals as discussed.
If you would like we can take care of packing down your wedding florals and vase ware so you don't have to!
You are welcome to DIY this and return hired items (if any) the following week.
